NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE CONVECTIVE MOTION OF WATER IN A POROUS MEDIUM, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE MAXIMUM DENSITY OF WATER |

The convective flow of water in a porous medium was studied numerically, taking into account the inversion of its density at a temperature close to 4 °C. Situations that actually occur in the Arctic regions were simulated, when a porous medium, in order to stabilize it by freezing, is cooled by a vertically located pipe - a cooling element. Data on the structure of the convective flow, distribution of temperatures and velocities were obtained. It is shown that the use of water in the calculations without taking into account the maximum of its density leads to a significant error in calculating the cooling time of the porous medium.
