STUDYING THE PARAMETERS OF THE THERMAL NEUTRON
DETECTOR BASED ON 10B-RPC BY THE MONTE CARLO METHOD |

The deficit of 3
He and creation of new generation of neutron sources stimulate the search for new solutions for positionsensitive thermal and cold neutron detectors. The paper presents the results of Monte Carlo simulation of the interaction of
neutrons with the materials of the 10B-RPC detector being created.
For this detector, the spectra of deposition energy in the gas gap and the conversion efficiency of thermal neutrons for
various thicknesses of 10B4C were obtained, as well as the spectra of energy deposition in the gas gap and conversion
efficiency for neutrons of various wavelengths at a thickness of 10B4
C 2 microns. The fraction of absorbed and scattered
neutrons is shown for all structural materials with their typical thicknesses. The applicability and possibilities of further
modernization of the presented architecture of the thermal and cold neutron detector are discussed.
